This wonderful old map of of France Vinicole (wine growing) was originally published in 1939. It was created by an anonymous mapmaker.
This colourful map in French, titled La France Vinicole, which translates to Wine-Growing France, shows the many famous regions of France's Vineyards, including the World Wine Capital, Bordeaux.
Each region on the map is colour coded to show the origin of wines transported across the world during the 20th century. In 2020, France produced 44.7 million hectoliters of still wine (4,470,000,000 litres)!
Have a look around the map to see if you can spot your favourite beverage!

The labels on this map are very small at 12x16in (30.5x41cm). The map is still very attractive, but you may struggle to read the smallest letters. Please buy a larger map if it's important to be able to read the map easily.
If you’re looking for something slightly different, another option would be this amazing map of the gastronomy of France by Alain Bourguignon in 1932.
The locations on this map include: Champagne, Bourgogne, Cotes Du Rhone, Bordeaux, Roussillon, Jura, Bergeracois, Paris, Lille, Marseille, Nice and Monaco.

This map is available as a giclée print on acid free archival matte paper, or you can buy it framed. The frame is a nice, simple black frame that suits most aesthetics. Please get in touch if you'd like a different frame colour or material. My frames are glazed with super-clear museum-grade acrylic (perspex/acrylite), which is significantly less reflective than glass, safer, and will always arrive in perfect condition.
