This wonderful old map of the Bronx was originally published in 1900. It was created by Hyde & Company.
The birhtplace of hip-hop, this is a very detailed street map of the Bronx, two years after it was established as a borough in the City of Greater New York.
The Bronx is home to many famous landmarks, such as the Bronx Zoo (the largest urban zoo), the New York City Botanical Gardens and, of course, home to the "Bronx Bombers" - the New York Yankees whose stadium is not yet on the map.
This map looks great at all sizes: 12x14in (30.5x35.7cm), 16x20in (40.5x51cm), 18x21.1in (45.5x53.6cm), 24x28.1in (61x71.4cm), 30x35.1in (76x89.3cm), 37x43.3in (94x110cm), 44x51.5in (112x131cm) and 53x62.1in (135x157.7cm), but it looks even better when printed large.
I can create beautiful, large prints of this map up to 90in (229cm). Please get in touch if you're looking for larger, customised or different framing options.
The model in the listing images is holding the 16x20in (40.5x51cm) version of this map.
The fifth listing image shows an example of my map personalisation service.
Please note the unframed 12x14in (30.5x35.7cm), 18x21.1in (45.5x53.6cm) and 24x28.1in (61x71.4cm) map has white edges around the map. These edges can help you with framing, or if you don’t need them they are very easy to snip off with scissors. All other maps, including the framed maps, look exactly like the listing images.
If you’re looking for something slightly different, another option would be this amazing map of Manhattan and the Bronx by Ernest Dudley Chase in 1939.
The locations on this map include: New York Botanical Garden, Pelham Bay Park, Hunter Island, City Island, Grand Concourse, Baychester, Morris Park, Jerome Park Reservoir and Harlem River.
Please contact me to check if a certain location, landmark or feature is shown on this map.
This would make a wonderful birthday, Christmas, Father's Day, work leaving or housewarming gift for someone interested in the Bronx or someone who is from the Bronx.
This map is available as a giclée print on acid free archival matte paper, or you can buy it framed. The frame is a nice, simple black frame that suits most aesthetics. Please get in touch if you'd like a different frame colour or material. My frames are glazed with super-clear museum-grade acrylic (perspex/acrylite), which is significantly less reflective than glass, safer, and will always arrive in perfect condition.
