This wonderful old map of North Africa was originally published in 1545. It was created by Sebastian Munster.
A historical map of North Africa and its cities, illustrating how Ancient Egypt and Libya might have looked hundreds of years ago.
It is written in Latin, as Latin was the language of scholars, literature, education, and politics during the Middle Ages.
A detailed map for its time, showing mountains throughout the countries and the Nile flowing from the south to the Mediterranean Sea, labelled "Pelagus Aegyptiacum." The Sea of Egypt.
This map looks great at all sizes: 12x16in (30.5x41cm), 16x20in (40.5x51cm), 18x24in (45.5x61cm), 24x36in (61x91.5cm), 32x40in (81.5x102cm), 40x50in (102x127cm), 48x60in (122x153cm) and 56x70in (142x178cm), but it looks even better when printed large.
I can create beautiful, large prints of this map up to 70in (178cm). Please get in touch if you're looking for larger, customised or different framing options.

If you’re looking for something slightly different, another option would be this amazing map of the Ancient Cities of North Africa and the Middle East by William Smith in 1874.
The locations on this map include: Alexandria, Aswan, Cyrene, the ruins of Babylon and Cairo.

This would make a wonderful birthday, Christmas, Father's Day, work leaving or housewarming gift for someone interested in North Africa or someone interested in the history of the Mother Continent.
This map is available as a giclée print on acid free archival matte paper, or you can buy it framed. The frame is a nice, simple black frame that suits most aesthetics. Please get in touch if you'd like a different frame colour or material. My frames are glazed with super-clear museum-grade acrylic (perspex/acrylite), which is significantly less reflective than glass, safer, and will always arrive in perfect condition.
