Continua a leggereLake Louise is shown here as a sweeping mountain panorama, the ski area unfolding across the page in a dramatic front-facing view rather than a flat plan. The composition is immediately distinctive: the broad Front Side dominates the left and centre, while Larch sits to the right as a more self-contained companion sector, divided by a pale vertical strip. It gives the map a strong sense of structure, while still preserving the feeling of one continuous alpine landscape.
Across the upper skyline, serrated snowy ridges and dark rock bands create a striking backdrop to the ski terrain. Mt. Whitehorn, clearly marked at 2637m / 8652 ft, anchors the Front Side, with bowls, chutes and open faces dropping into wooded lower slopes. Below, the mountain becomes denser and more intricate, with pistes and route markers threading through conifer forest towards the base area. On the right, Larch has its own broad upper bowl and a steeper central fall line, before narrowing into a substantial network of forested runs lower down. The result is a map that captures both the scale of the mountain and the variety within it.
What makes this piece especially engaging is the way painterly relief and practical ski information work together. Snowfields are shaded in soft whites, pale blues and lavender-grey, while cliffs are rendered in dark blue-grey strata and the forests in deep layered greens. Over this, the ski-area information is crisply overprinted: blue, green and black route symbols, bold lift corridors, red dashed ski area boundary lines, and vivid orange lodge callouts for places such as Temple Lodge, Whitehorn Lodge and Lodge of the Ten Peaks. The large blue headings, the red warning labels, and the route indexes set into the lower corners all contribute to a design that feels both atmospheric and highly legible.
There is also plenty here for someone who knows Lake Louise well to return to. Familiar names such as Top of the World Express, Glacier Express, Grizzly Express, Larch Express and Ptarmigan stand out clearly, while the detailed run indexes at the foot of the map invite slower exploration. The base area is not reduced to a simple symbol but illustrated with roads, buildings and circulation routes, giving the whole scene a grounded, lived-in quality. It is easy to imagine this map appealing to someone remembering a favourite trip, a family holiday, or simply the pleasure of tracing a well-known route back through the trees.
As wall art, it has a particularly satisfying balance: dramatic enough to command attention from across the room, yet full of smaller details that reward a closer look. For a skier with a connection to Lake Louise, that combination of grandeur and familiarity is exactly what gives the map its lasting appeal.
The art of the ski map
The character of this map lies in its panoramic treatment of the mountain. Rather than flattening the terrain into abstraction, it preserves the steepness of bowls, the interruption of cliffs and the transition from open alpine snow to dense evergreen forest. That relief gives the print much of its atmosphere.
At the same time, the cartography is clear and confident. Bright route symbols, bold corridor labels and orange amenity panels sit cleanly over the painted background, while the run indexes at the bottom corners add another layer of interest for anyone inclined to study the mountain in detail.
A sense of place at home
This piece would sit especially well in a chalet sitting room, a study or a hallway where its broad alpine composition can be appreciated at a glance. The cool whites and blue-greys, balanced by deep forest greens and vivid accents, give it enough presence for a feature wall without losing the calm, wintry character that makes ski maps so easy to live with.
A thoughtful gift for skiers
This is a particularly good choice for someone who has skied Lake Louise, returned there over several seasons, or hopes to do so one day. Its combination of recognisable route names, mountain drama and detailed base-area illustration makes it feel personal rather than generic.
Perfect for:
- A birthday gift for someone who loves skiing at Lake Louise
- A keepsake of a memorable Canadian ski trip
- A chalet or mountain-home interior with a connection to the resort
- An anniversary gift recalling a favourite holiday together
- A present for a skier planning a long-awaited visit to Lake Louise
For anyone with Lake Louise in their memory or future plans, this map keeps the shape of the mountain vividly in view.
Looking for a different resort? You can order a custom map of almost any ski area in the world, with the coverage, colours and layout tailored to your preferences.
This ski area map can also be personalised. We can discreetly mark your chalet, highlight a favourite piste, add a small illustration of you and your family skiing, or include a date and dedication to remember a special trip. Each addition is carefully composed to complement the original map, preserving its character and keeping the mountain detail clear.
Customisation, sizing and framing
For guidance on size, colour or framing, or to discuss an option that is not available online, please contact us. Our team will be happy to advise, and we usually respond within a few minutes.
A familiar resort can hold years of memories: the slope where someone first learned to ski, a much-loved mountain restaurant, or the chalet you return to every winter. Explore examples of our personalised maps for ideas on how to bring those memories into your design.
For a more nostalgic finish, you can choose our optional ageing treatment. Softer tones and a gently weathered appearance give the map the character of a vintage alpine print, particularly suited to a chalet, study or reading room. Browse examples of our ageing treatments to see the different effects.
The model in the listing images is holding the 18x24in (45x60cm) version of this map.
For a larger statement piece, printing and framing at sizes up to 3 metres (10ft) may be available, depending on the original map. For a bespoke size or framing option that is not shown online, please get in touch. We will help you choose a format that makes the most of the map's detail.
The map is available as a giclée print on acid-free archival matte paper, or professionally framed and ready to hang. Our standard frames are offered in six carefully selected finishes: black, dark brown, dark grey, antique gold, oak and white. A wider range of mouldings, mounts and finishes is available through our custom framing service.
Our frames are glazed with super-clear museum-grade acrylic, chosen for its clarity and light weight. The finish keeps the focus on the map, from the sweep of the mountain range to the finer piste lines and place names.
This map is also available as a float framed canvas, sometimes known as a shadow gap framed canvas or canvas floater. The map is printed on artist's cotton canvas and then stretched over a handmade box frame. We then "float" the canvas inside a wooden frame, which is available in a range of colours (black, dark brown, oak, antique gold and white). This is a wonderful way to present a map without glazing in front. See some examples of float framed canvas maps and explore the differences between my different finishes.
For something truly unique, this map is also available in "Unique 3D", our trademarked process that dramatically transforms the map so that it has a wonderful sense of depth. We combine the original map with detailed topography and elevation data, so that mountains and the terrain really "pop". For more info and examples of 3D maps, check my Unique 3D page.

Most orders are made locally and delivered in around 2–3 working days, depending on the product, size and destination.
We print and frame maps and artwork in 23 countries around the world, so your order is usually made close to you or your recipient. That means faster delivery, less time in transit, and no customs or import duty surprises.
Personalised and customised pieces usually take an extra 1–2 working days, because we prepare your design and send it to you for approval before printing.
Very large framed orders can take a little longer, as they need extra care in production and delivery.
Every order is carefully packaged: unframed prints are sent in a strong protective tube, while framed pieces are securely packed with protective materials around the frame.
If you need your order by a particular date, please contact us before ordering. We’ll check the best production route and delivery option for your location.

Our standard frame is a gallery-style black ash hardwood frame, with a simple, modern look. It is approximately 20mm (0.8in) wide. You can also view some lovely customer photos of framed maps and art.
We use super-clear acrylic glazing, also known as Perspex or Acrylite, instead of traditional glass. It is lighter, safer, and has lower reflectivity, giving the artwork a clearer, cleaner appearance.
Six standard frame colours are available at no extra cost: black, dark brown, dark grey, oak, white, and antique gold. Custom framing and mounting/matting is also available for customers looking for something more specific.
Most maps, art prints, and illustrations are also available as a framed canvas. We use matte cotton canvas, stretch it over a sustainably sourced wooden box frame, and then float the piece within a wooden outer frame. The finished result is beautifully presented, with no glazing between you and the artwork.
All frames are supplied ready to hang, with either string or brackets fitted to the back. Very large frames will include heavy-duty hanging plates and/or a mounting baton. If you have any questions, please get in touch.
We can also supply old maps and artwork on canvas, foam board, cotton rag, and other materials.
If you would prefer to frame your map or artwork yourself, please read our size guide before ordering.

Every Unique Maps piece begins with an authentic cartographic source or an original design from our London studio.
For our historic maps, we source rare originals from libraries, archives, auction houses and private collections around the world. We carefully restore each map for print—repairing age-related damage, balancing colour and improving clarity while preserving its original detail, texture and character.
Once restored, the map is prepared for your chosen size and finish. Your piece is then printed and, where selected, framed close to its delivery destination.
Our map prints use acid-free 200gsm archival matte paper and fade-resistant pigment inks, creating a rich, non-glossy finish designed to last. Framed maps use crystal-clear optical acrylic and arrive ready to hang.
Canvas, cotton-rag and other specialist presentations are also available. Learn more about our materials and finishes.
Personalising your map
