Seguir leyendoDeer Valley, Utah is shown here as a sweeping mountain panorama, with the ski area unfolding in a broad oblique view rather than a flat overhead plan. The effect is immediately engaging: snowy ridgelines rise across the upper half of the image, while the resort bases, roads and buildings gather below, giving the whole map a strong sense of descent from high alpine terrain to village life. A large deer-head emblem in the upper left adds a distinctive note of identity without distracting from the landscape itself.
The geography is one of the map’s great pleasures. Bald Mountain sits near the upper centre as a clear focal point, with a wide fan of marked pistes spilling down towards the middle of the scene. To one side, Flagstaff Mountain forms another busy hub of lifts and runs, while Empire and Lady Morgan extend the ski area further across the right-hand ridges. Lower down, Silver Lake Lodge and Snow Park Lodge anchor the mountain to its developed base areas, and Deer Valley East Village appears at the western edge. Peaks including Park Peak, Bald Eagle Mountain, Big Dutch Peak and Little Baldy Peak are all labelled with elevations, helping the panorama read as both a landscape and a carefully organised ski map.
Visually, the artwork balances atmosphere with clarity. The mountains are rendered in cool whites, icy blues and pale lavender-grey, with shaded gullies and ridges giving real shape to the snowfields. Dark evergreen woodland gathers in dense bands across the slopes, setting off the pistes beautifully. Over this painted terrain, the route network is crisply overprinted: green, blue, blue-and-black, black and double-black markings distinguish easy, intermediate, advanced-intermediate, advanced and expert terrain, while orange-red lift lines climb boldly back into the heights. The contrast between the quiet winter palette and these brighter route markings makes the map easy to read, but also richly decorative.
There is also a satisfying change of scale as the eye moves downward. The upper mountain is all bowls, faces and tree-lined descents; below, the composition opens into roads, parking areas, lodge clusters and residential loops. Royal Street, Deer Valley Plaza, Jordanelle and Hwy 40 all contribute to that sense of a real place with its own rhythms of arrival, ascent and return. On the far left, a band of blue water beyond Hail Peak adds another layer of setting, widening the scene beyond the pistes themselves.
For anyone who knows Deer Valley, this map offers the pleasure of recognition in almost every section: the central importance of Bald Mountain, the concentration around Silver Lake, the more far-reaching terrain towards Empire, and the intricate weave of runs and lifts that ties it all together. For someone planning a future visit, it has the opposite but equally appealing quality of invitation. It lets the ski area reveal itself gradually, from its major peaks and lodges down to the small symbols, service icons and route names that reward closer study.
The art of the ski map
What gives this Deer Valley map its character is the combination of panoramic mountain illustration and dense piste detail. The terrain is not reduced to abstract lines and blocks; instead, ridges, wooded slopes and open snowfields retain their depth and drama, so the ski area still feels like a mountain landscape first.
At the same time, the cartography is precise in appearance and carefully layered. Lift lines stand out clearly, piste classifications are easy to follow, and the compact lettering sits neatly across the slopes without overwhelming the painting beneath. The result is a map that works beautifully from across the room and becomes more interesting the closer you look.
A sense of place at home
This piece would sit especially well in a chalet sitting room, a study or a hallway where returning guests might pause over familiar names. Its cool palette, lively route markings and expansive composition give it enough presence for a main living space, while the recognisable layout of Deer Valley makes it particularly satisfying in a home with a personal connection to Utah skiing.
A thoughtful gift for skiers
This is a thoughtful choice for someone who returns to Deer Valley year after year, has happy memories of family ski holidays there, or simply loves the look of classic panoramic trail maps. It is also well suited to a chalet owner or a couple marking a memorable trip, because the map captures both the structure of the ski area and the atmosphere of the mountains around it.
Perfect for:
- A Deer Valley regular who knows the mountain by heart
- A keepsake of a memorable Utah ski holiday
- A chalet or mountain-home interior with a personal link to the resort
- A birthday or Christmas gift for a skier who loves panoramic trail maps
- An anniversary or housewarming present for a couple with favourite Deer Valley memories
It is the kind of map that keeps Deer Valley present long after the skis are put away.

Customisation, sizing and framing
For guidance on size, colour or framing, or to discuss an option that is not available online, please contact us. Our team will be happy to advise, and we usually respond within a few minutes.
A familiar resort can hold years of memories: the slope where someone first learned to ski, a much-loved mountain restaurant, or the chalet you return to every winter. Explore examples of our personalised maps for ideas on how to bring those memories into your design.
For a more nostalgic finish, you can choose our optional ageing treatment. Softer tones and a gently weathered appearance give the map the character of a vintage alpine print, particularly suited to a chalet, study or reading room. Browse examples of our ageing treatments to see the different effects.
The model in the listing images is holding the 36x24in (90x60cm) version of this map.
For a larger statement piece, printing and framing at sizes up to 3 metres (10ft) may be available, depending on the original map. For a bespoke size or framing option that is not shown online, please get in touch. We will help you choose a format that makes the most of the map's detail.
The map is available as a giclée print on acid-free archival matte paper, or professionally framed and ready to hang. Our standard frames are offered in six carefully selected finishes: black, dark brown, dark grey, antique gold, oak and white. A wider range of mouldings, mounts and finishes is available through our custom framing service.
Our frames are glazed with super-clear museum-grade acrylic, chosen for its clarity and light weight. The finish keeps the focus on the map, from the sweep of the mountain range to the finer piste lines and place names.
This map is also available as a float framed canvas, sometimes known as a shadow gap framed canvas or canvas floater. The map is printed on artist's cotton canvas and then stretched over a handmade box frame. We then "float" the canvas inside a wooden frame, which is available in a range of colours (black, dark brown, oak, antique gold and white). This is a wonderful way to present a map without glazing in front. See some examples of float framed canvas maps and explore the differences between my different finishes.
For something truly unique, this map is also available in "Unique 3D", our trademarked process that dramatically transforms the map so that it has a wonderful sense of depth. We combine the original map with detailed topography and elevation data, so that mountains and the terrain really "pop". For more info and examples of 3D maps, check my Unique 3D page.
